PEACE POETRY CONTEST
CELEBRATE “POETRY MONTH” APRIL 2009

OPEN TO ALL NORTH SHORE WRITERS, STUDENT POETS AND FRIENDS OF VFP

WINNERS DECLARED FOR K-12 AND ADULT CATEGORIES
CONTEST RULES

Poems are to focus on and directly address the cause of peace and/or the abolition of war, hate or violence; or peace-making in our communities.

Submit ONLY one poem per writer, 50 lines or less, rhymed or unrhymed.

Include the following information with your poem: Title of poem; Author's name; Town or City; Entries for K-12 please include: Grade; Name of school and town; Parent's or Teacher's name & phone number. Email address for notification of winners to be announced.

All work is to be completely original and unpublished. Previous prize-winning poems are not eligible. Any entry that has questionable originality will be disqualified. Help with spelling and grammar is permissible but supplying more suitable words or phrases would disqualify an entry.
AWARDS
Public Poetry Reading
Sunday, April 26, at 2:00 pm at the Recital Hall,
Salem State College
- Prizes and certificates will be awarded to 1st Honors winners.
- 2nd Honors winners receive a certificates and a 2009 Peace Poetry booklet.
- There will be multiple honorable mentions for each category. Judges have the right to declare "no winner" when there are too few entries in a category for a valid contest. All winners will receive a certificate and will be invited to read their winning poems at the public reading.

Members of Veterans For Peace and local poets.

All entries must be received by 5 pm, Monday, April 10, 2009.
